WOODWARD LIONS HOST SANTA'S VISIT
The Woodward Lions hosted a community meet and greet for Santa Dec.5, 2009. Santa parked his sled and raindeer, south of town, at Picket Fence Creamery (which provided the milk for the cookies). The Woodward Fire Department transported Santa to the Towns Christmas Tree near the Social Center. The childern of the community were on hand to sit on Santa's lap and tell him what they would like for Christmas. The Woodward Lions Club assisted Santa by passing out Candy Canes, Lion Stickers, and serving cookies with Picket Fence Milk.
On December 1st, the Madrid Lions held their annual Christmas party at the local winery, Snus Hill Winery.
Forty-nine lions members and guest were in attendance.A social hour started the night's events followed by a welcoming address by Madrid Lions President Ron Eppert. Lion's member Earl Check passed around a sign up sheet to "Ring the Bell for the Salvation Army Red Kettle" in Madrid on Dec 4 & 5. Lion Earl Check kept telling everyone, "There are still plenty of good time slots left!" A buffet was served by another local business, Corn Crib Catering. It was hard to decide between the Lasagna or Chicken Alfredo. Following the dinner, the Lions enjoyed the evening with fellowship and dancing, The music was provided by an local area band "Bill Martin Group"
Madrid Lions manned the Salvation Army's "Red Kettle"
On December 5 & 6 the Madrid Lions manned the Salvation Army's "Red Kettle" Belling Ringing campaign to raise money for the needy families in Boone County.(see attached bell ringer.jpg - Lions President Ron Eppert takes his turn at "Ringing the Bells" for the Salvation Army of Boone County"
