Always Strong Leader Dog Support In Iowa!

Lion Beth Slade, Director of Lions Engagement at Leader Dog, was one of our featured speakers at the recent District Convention and presented a program called “Leader Dogs To- day”. The convention attendees enjoyed her positive and out- going presentation very much.

Some interesting facts: It now costs $40,000 to bring forth a good Leader Dog and to pair it with a client. The pairing has an average lifespan of 6 years and there are 28 teams in Iowa at this time. A Labrador and Golden Retriever mix make the best dogs for this purpose but they also use German Shepherds and Dobermans.

More information can be had from our District 9NW Leader Dog Chair Ray Ohlinger at or at 712-358-2457.
